My Top Picks From 2024

I love this time of year – the liminal space between the Solstice and the start of the new calendar year – when I can feel energy moving and rearranging itself. I like to list the highlights of my year, including the books / films / music etc which have been most impactful … those which effortlessly come to mind and which will not leave my mind. The retrospective awareness of what I have been digesting (and at times inhaling) creates a ‘joining-the-dots’ picture of emerging themes, as well as new data for the year ahead.

Here are a few of my highlights of 2024:

Favourite book: The Search for Hidden Sacred Knowledge by Dolores Cannon. The contents of this book fascinated me, pushing at the boundaries of possibility whilst simultaneously eliciting resonance and recognition ( … and was synchronistically complemented by Season 2 of Graham Hancock’s Ancient Apocalypse).

Also an ongoing favourite book: Hilma af Klint - Notes and Methods. I find the sacredly coded artwork of Hilma af Klint very powerful – randomly opening this beautiful book, letting the energies influence my day and creativity.

Favourite podcast: There are so many podcasts to rave about (aside from my own :)). I listen to them when driving; mostly selections from Rick Rubin’s Tetragrammaton podcast (check out the Es Devlin episode) or the Tim Ferriss podcast (check out the David Whyte or Jon Batiste episode). But the stand-out podcast episode for me has been Joe Rogan’s interview of Terrence Howard. It’s crazy and mind-bending and also not … in places echoing concepts channelled in my book The Teachings of Mr P. I have found it exciting to hear similar views around ‘no zero’, gravity, an alternative mathematics, etc.

Favourite film: Anyone who knows me well knows how sensitive I am to violence and suspense in films. Annoyingly so, at times. But The Tape (thank you Sandra, for recommending) ticked every box for me – ‘watchable’ and beautiful, its storyline and songs remaining with me for weeks. Martha Tilston is now a regular on my Spotify playlist (I think I have a girl-crush), and I loved seeing her live in concert this summer.

Favourite concert: Three favourites here: the Black Pumas, Angus and Julia Stone and the Teskey Brothers. All three far exceeded my expectations [note to self: go to more gigs].

Favourite song: Of the 27,471 minutes of Spotify I listened to in 2024 Maribou State was my most listened-to artist but ‘Satisfied’ (Ambient Remix) by Catching Flies probably sums up my mood of 2024. It’s on my ‘Morning Stretch’ Spotify playlist if you fancy a listen. [I love the annual ‘Wrapped’ feature on Spotify … which is the summary of my year’s listening: and surprisingly includes 1488 songs across 924 artists!].

And so, I witness themes brewing :)

Enjoy the recommendations which call to you … I would love to hear your thoughts and themes – and any recommendations you have, too!

With love for the end of 2024,

Delilah
